The $10 Club
Many Gifts, One Mission

In Luke 10, Jesus sends out seventy- two disciples ahead of him into every town and place he intended to visit—
entrusting them to prepare the way for
a movement of healing, hope, and good
news.

That same spirit lives on today.
God continues to call each generation to
go into every place and share the gospel,
inviting new people into communion and
liberation through Jesus Christ. In the
North Carolina Conference of the United
Methodist Church, one of the most
consistent and faithful tools for making
this possible has been the $10 Club.

It’s a simple idea: when many people
give a small amount, something big can
happen. Today, when 150 people give an
average of $50, that collective generosity
becomes a $7,500 start-up grant—
enough to help launch a new church or
renew an existing one with energy and
hope.

These grants provide critical early
support: computers, websites, worship
equipment, outreach materials, and first-step programming. But more
than that, they spark imagination and
support innovation. They create space
for communities to dream—believing
that God still has work to do through the
Church in their neighborhood.

Because of the $10 Club, a new United
Methodist faith community is being
planted in Leland, NC, a fast-growing
area with few United Methodist
congregations. And near Smithfield,
Elizabeth UMC—a beloved church—is
undergoing a bold renewal, an “Extreme
Makeover”—to serve as a vibrant gospel
witness for their community.

These stories are just the beginning.
As North Carolina grows in numbers
and diversity, the Church is called to
grow in courage and creativity. The $10
Club helps us respond not with fear or
scarcity, but with hope and faithfulness.
