If you have an OPALS user account, then you can reserve resources in the OPALS system directly. You may also make requests by using the Resource Request Form or contacting the Media Center directly.
This process reserves items for immediate use as the item is available. If you would like to reserve an item for a later date, contact the Media Center directly or use the Resource Request Form.
How to Request Resources in OPALS
First, be sure that you are logged in. You should see your name in the upper right corner of the screen.
From your search results, click on the Request button underneath the cover image of the item you want to borrow. If you don’t see this button, you need to log in.

You can also click on this button when looking at the item record. It is also located underneath the cover image.

A pop-up will appear. If we have multiple copies of an item, and you would like to request multiple copies, enter the number of copies into # copy. The (max: #) will show the number of copies in our collection, although some of them may be checked out. Enter your email address and click Submit Request. You do not need to enter an Expiry Date.

You will then see a confirmation screen. Read it and click Close.

Checking the Status of Your Request
To see the status of your request, go to the top menu bar on the left of your screen and choose My File. Then, click on My Request.

You will see your request listed under Active/Current and the #Request will show the number of copies requested.

When your request is approved by the librarian, the number of copies will show under #Reserve if there is a waiting list or under # on hold if the item is currently available.

You will receive an email from the librarian when your request has been mailed to you. You will also receive an automated email from OPALS showing your items on loan. If you prefer to pick up the item, contact the Media Center or use the Resource Request Form.
If you prefer not to use the reservations feature, you may use the Resource Request Form or contact the Media Center directly.
