“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22-23
During the Lenten season, we are asking for repentance and fasting for God’s revelation to us. We approach this season with dread as we are not wholeheartedly willing to admit to our wrongdoings and the thought of relinquishing something for 40 days seems so overwhelming. In this scripture, we are reminded that God’s love for us will never come to an end. His mercies are new to us every day.
How about instead of giving up – add something to your daily routine instead. Open your bible or subscribe to a bible app that will be sent to you each day. Allow the scriptures and brief devotions to give you a starting point to begin your day anew. Allow God’s mercies to be revealed to you—not only during Lent but for every season of your life!
Dear Heavenly Father, as we begin this day….allow us to see you in everything that we encounter. We are reminded in Luke 19:40 that if the disciples had not cried out Hosanna that the stones would have been shouting. Let us shout out to you for the goodness and mercy of your love each day. Open our eyes, minds, hearts, and souls to be receptive to your glories not just during Lent but every day! In Jesus’ name, I pray! Amen!
