Attendees are encouraged to purchase the updated Safer Sanctuaries resource book.
The Rev. Dr. Kevin Johnson serves as Director of Children’s Ministries for Congregational Vitality & Intentional Discipleship at Discipleship Ministries for the United Methodist Church. Kevin’s hero Fred Rogers suggests that we “listen to the children, learn about them, learn from them. Think of the children first.” This quote defines Rev. Kev’s approach to ministry, as well as his passion for intergenerational worship and communication.
Kevin, an ordained elder of the Kentucky Annual Conference, has over twenty years of ministry experience. He holds an M.Div. (Master of Divinity) from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary and a D.Min. (Doctorate in Ministry) in Homiletical Leadership from Phillips Theological Seminary. Prior to his call into ministry, Kevin worked in the hospital setting with physically disabled patients and in psychiatric group homes for emotionally, sexually, and physically abused children and youth. Kevin currently lives near Nashville, TN, with his wife Jennifer, who together just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. They are the proud parents of three adult children, Braden (28), JonMarie (23), and Will (18).
