A House Divided: Practicing the Politics of Compassion in an Age of Outrage
The Center for Leadership Excellence presents an online workshop with Mark Feldmeir…
September 23, 2025 @ 10:00 am – 11:30 am
About the Workshop:
How do we do politics as people of faith? What core commitments might inform how we grapple with the most contentious issues of our day—like climate change, immigration, racism, gun violence, health care? How do we transcend the politics of outrage that dominates our society and turns neighbors, even family members, into enemies? Despite our ideological differences, can we find enough common ground to work together for the common good?
In this online, interactive workshop, we’ll explore practical strategies for how to talk about, and practice, a politics of compassion that fosters a society grounded in universal concern, care, and commitment to the common good. Through presentations, live polls, break-out rooms and Q&A, we’ll reflect together on what the gospel of Jesus Christ says about how we should live and act in our community, and what our responsibility should be to the people who live there.
