Gathering with the Spirit Workshops

Event Series Event Series (See All)

May 16 @ 9:00 am 3:00 pm

Would you like to hear about how God and the Holy Spirit are currently performing miracles, just like those following Christ’s resurrection? With the guiding realization that the Holy Spirit today is the same as encountered by the apostles, participants are invited into a deeper exploration and understanding of the Holy Spirit in Scripture, theology, and personal spiritual practice. Dr. Daniel Castelo of Duke Divinity School will lead the workshops through a combination of testimonials, lectures, facilitated small group discussions, and activities. Clergy and laity will explore the different characteristics surrounding the Holy Spirit in Scripture, including significant passages, trends both in the Old and New Testaments, and limitations as described in Mark 6:5-6: He could not do many miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.

The workshops will be held on Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17, 9 am – 3 pm. Topics on each day will differ, and attendees may choose to attend either or both days. Lay Servant Ministries credit is available for those attending both days of the workshop. Light refreshments and lunch will be provided. We encourage you to identify your own preference for overnight accommodations if you wish to attend both days.

The cost is $25 per day, or $30 for both days.
