About the Organization
Formed in 1971, the VAUMF is a foundation dedicated to providing stewardship education and managing assets for the Virginia United Methodist Annual Conference. Served by a Board of Directors, the foundation is committed to supporting projects, ministries, and initiatives throughout the Conference. After six years of significant growth, its trajectory for continued success is in place with an annual budget of $1M and a full-time staff of six.
About the Ministry
The key to this position will be building relationships with both established stakeholders as well as new prospective donors. Serving as the primary storyteller of the Foundation, this position will be highly mobile within the community creating strategic partnerships. Utilizing the backdrop of the theology of stewardship, this position will be a connection between the local congregation and the Foundation.
The Ideal Candidate
An ideal candidate for this position is a strategic leader with a proven track record in fundraising, fostering innovation, and managing large-scale development projects. They should possess excellent communication skills, the ability to collaborate across teams, and a deep understanding of the non-profit sector.
Key Responsibilities
Developing and implementing a cohesive development strategy to guide the next phase of the Foundation’s work.
Strengthening and expanding partnerships in mission between the VAUMF, VAUMC, and local congregations.
Seeking and securing new sources of revenue with an objective to enrich and enliven local ministry.
Equip local congregations, extension ministries, and ministry leaders to secure funding that returns resources to local churches and ministries.
Equipping the Foundation, Conference, and congregations to build toward the future by facilitating connections, conversations, and resources that equip the Conference, Foundation, and congregations to combine tradition and innovation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising and development, with a track record of successful donor development; 10 years of experience preferred.
Experience working in or with non-profit organizations is highly desirable.
Excellent written and oral communication skills as well as presentation skills.
A working knowledge of the United Methodist Church is required, but membership in the United Methodist Church (clergy or laity) is not required.
A proven history and experience with collaboration and community-based engagement.
