Part-Time Custodian Position
St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a Part-Time Custodian to care for our church and preschool campus and help create a clean, welcoming environment for our community. Anticipated work schedule is approximately 30 hours per week during regular operating hours, though some nights and weekends may be needed on occasion. This individual will appropriately manage and execute custodial tasks, operate and maintain cleaning equipment, and keep an eye out for ways to make the environment more welcoming and clean on behalf of St. Mark’s Church and Preschool.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of custodial experience, preferably in a church, school or hospital.
- Ability to perform all essential custodial duties requiring manual labor including but not limited to bending, stooping, walking, carrying, reaching, climbing, lifting, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to plan, schedule and prioritize a variety of tasks while maintaining flexibility as exceptions arise.
- Self-motivated, able to think outside of the box and willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
- Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety standards.
- Ability to operate and maintain St. Mark’s cleaning equipment.
- Must be comfortable with heights.
- Background check is required.

*St. Mark’s is also seeking a part-time Facilities Manager who will provide ‘handyman’ tasks and minor repairs, coordinate with outside vendors for larger repairs, provide set-ups for various events at St. Mark’s, work with our Board of Trustees to provide campus care, and oversee maintenance of the church’s HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other systems.
