Afterschool Director McMannen United Methodist Church

McMannen Church is looking for an Afterschool Director to work with us to establish a program at our Church.  This program would support students from Hillandale Elementary School in Durham, but would also be open to K-5 children in the surrounding area.  The Church has ample class room facilities; a large playground; a commercial, recently renovated kitchen; and a strong desire to support the Hillandale community through this important program. But we are in need of an individual to lead it.  McMannen has been a church fixture in northwest Durham community for over 150 years. 

Job Description

The Afterschool Director is responsible for planning, management, and daily operations of the Afterschool Program. This position includes setting up the program, complying with state and local regulations, hiring staff, monitoring students, and making sure the program runs smoothly.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Afterschool Director is responsible for operations of the Afterschool program which includes:

·         Development and implementation of the Afterschool Program with annual budget

·         Hiring, coordination, and supervision of Afterschool personnel

·         Development and oversight of activities, programs, and policies of the Afterschool Program.

·         Coordination and management of resources

·         Creating and implementing a schedule of activities and programming, ensuring that the programs are age-appropriate and safe

·         Establishing and enforcing rules, and organizing and running activities

Skills, Knowledge and Proficiencies

High School education
Knowledge and experience in education field
Ability to work effectively with people
Excellent organizational skills and leadership ability
Excellent skills in problem solving, decision making, people management, and interpersonal relationships
Excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple activities at one time
Ability to handle difficult situations, able to lead and manage a team, and have excellent customer service skills.
 

We anticipate the program operating from 3PM to 6PM each weekday, on the same days that Hillandale is open for students.  Program start date will depend on candidate availability and the school calendar. Salary will be based on candidate knowledge and experience.
