Organist/Choir Director

Centenary United Methodist Church, a Reconciling Church with a strong commitment to its mission in downtown Richmond, Virginia and a long, storied history of excellent organ and choral music is seeking a part-time Organist/Choir Director.  This individual will provide organ music and choral direction for one Sunday worship service, as well as special services and will be responsible for rehearsing and directing the choir at weekly choir practice.  Additionally, the candidate will work closely with the Senior Minister and pianist to select a variety of hymns and songs for weekly and special services.  The candidate will be responsible for maintaining the Casavant Fre’res Pipe Organ #2845 (built 1965).  This individual will have first refusal to play for all weddings, funerals, and memorial services.  Preference will be given to candidates with an educational background and experience in both organ music and choral direction.  The salary of $30,000 includes paid sick leave and vacation leave.   Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and resume by June 16 that includes three references to  admin@centumc.org and note Organist/Choir Director in the subject heading.  Expected start date: September 1.
