South Carolina Christian Action Council
Based in Columbia, South Carolina, the ministry of the South Carolina Christian Action Council (SCCAC)–the SC affiliate of the National Council of Churches–is rooted in fostering dialogue and action among diverse Christian traditions to address pressing social justice issues. Through its work, the SCCAC reaches faith communities, advocates, and marginalized populations across South Carolina, engaging them in efforts to promote equity, peace, and reconciliation.
From raising awareness about HIV and maternal health in rural areas to advocating against the death penalty and predatory lending, the Council stands as a witness to God’s call for justice. By equipping believers to use their voices at the State House and beyond, SCCAC empowers the Church to embody Christian action daily. God is bringing transformation through these efforts by uniting diverse communities in common purpose, breaking cycles of injustice, and inspiring faithful advocacy that reflects Christ’s love and righteousness in the public sphere.

A Ministry of Peacebuilding
As an extension of the NC Conference’s Peacebuilding ministry, the South Carolina Christian Action Council fosters peacebuilding by advocating for nonviolent solutions to social injustices and promoting dialogue among diverse Christian traditions. Through initiatives like peaceful protests, racial reconciliation efforts, and policy advocacy, the Council works to create a more just and harmonious society rooted in Christian principles of peace and reconciliation.
