Congregations for Children is pleased to share information about The North Carolina Education Corps, a new and exciting independent, nonprofit organization that matches hardworking, service-oriented North Carolinians with opportunities to make a life-changing difference in the lives of young students across the state. NCEC partners with local schools to recruit, train, and deploy corps members — including community college and university students, recent graduates, and retirees — who are paid a living wage by schools to work part-time as tutors, mentors, and, this year, contact tracers. Corps members build relationships and connect with young students. They help teachers reach students who need additional academic support. They accelerate COVID learning recovery with students, families, and school personnel. Their work is closely aligned with C4C’s focus on K-3 literacy. For more information, visit nceducationcorps.org.
