The North Carolina Conference Missions Team is responsible for supporting local churches in mission, seeking to make and sustain connections among mission partners, and offering information and education about missional opportunities. The Team also encourages contributions to mission projects and recruits persons-in-mission for training and deployment both domestically and abroad.
This past year has been challenging. Uncertainty about budget has forced the Team to begin to imagine how we might do more with less, and become more adaptive in our engagement with current and future needs. The commitment to reach out to the least and lost remains; how we do it will be an ongoing process.
The past year the Team made Mission Seed Fund Grants to twenty churches, totaling $115,000. These apportionment dollars go back to local churches to enable new and expanded missions in the form of support for food banks, community gardens, innovative programs to reach the unhoused and undocumented, and more. In addition, missional partners received $100,000 for program support and direct aid to those in need.
The Missions Team is deeply grateful for the work of Rev. Jaye White, Director of Outreach Ministries. As she retires, she leaves a legacy of hopeful and expansive engagement, encouragement, and deep care. The Missions Team’s important work was enhanced by her commitment and calling.
