You will notice that Annual Conference will be different this year. Here are a few new items to be on the lookout for:
1. Confirming Your Attendance & Registration
You should have received an email asking you to confirm your attendance in Greenville, which will save you time when you arrive and help us be better stewards of our time and resources. When you come to Greenville, the registration process will be slightly different. Ensure you have the QR code you receive when you confirm your attendance.
What if I didn’t get the email?
If you didn’t get the confirm your attendance email or don’t have your QR code, no worries. Follow the signs at the registration area, and we will check you in!
Lay Member Changes in Greenville
If you have a lay member change for your church at Annual Conference, the clergy and the lay member must present and sign a form confirming the change.
2. Agenda
With a shorter conference this year, you’ll notice some changes to the agenda. But rest assured that our time together will be equally shaped by worship and work as we gather. For example, Opening Worship was traditionally a set time on our agenda. This year, the worship service will flow throughout our time together on Thursday.
Also, we have purposefully designed the agenda to allow time to connect with one another in the evenings. We encourage you to take the time to meet someone new! Our shared life through relationships is central to our congregational health and effectiveness. Discipleship begins with relationship!
3. Lanyard Colors & Voting
Lanyard colors have changed this year! We’ve got all the information you need on our website. If you confirmed your attendance, it showed your lanyard color. Let us know if your lanyard is incorrect with the updated colors!
4. Conference Rules & Resolutions
Read about proposed changes to this year’s rules, including how we consider and debate resolutions.
5. Cokesbury
Cokesbury’s Annual Conference store will be online this year! Visit their website to get what you need, including planners and calendars, curriculum, and other supplies. While you’re there, check out new resources, like Unrelenting Grace: A Methodist Way of Life by Bishop Ken Carter and The Methodist Book of Daily Prayer by Matt Miofsky.
Cokesbury and your United Methodist Publishing House are pleased to continue their mission of supporting your congregation with trusted resources for teaching, preaching, and disciple-making.
6. Display Table Scavenger Hunt
Explore various ministries and programs from the NC Conference and beyond – and you might win a prize! Visit the display tables and pick up your scavenger hunt list. You’ll have until Friday at 5 pm to find all the items and return your completed list. We’ll draw two winners from the completed lists and announce them on Saturday morning (you must be present to win).
7. School Supply Drive
We need your help collecting school supplies! Join us for a little friendly competition between the clergy and laity at Annual Conference and help support schools across our connection.
Here are the items we need:
- Pencils
- Composition books
- Highlighters
- Notebook paper
- Glue sticks
Drop your items off on Thursday and Friday in the collection boxes at the back of the main gathering space. The supplies will be distributed to South Greenville Elementary School and other schools identified by Congregations for Children (C4C) in each district.
We look forward to gathering with you in Greenville in a few weeks. You can find the most up-to-date annual conference information on this website or the NC Conference app!
