The Financial Discipleship Committee, in partnership with the Center for Leadership Excellence, invites you to Narrative Budgeting: Stories Behind the Numbers, with Tom Greener.
About the Workshop:
This workshop is designed to help pastors and church leaders reframe their conversations about church finances. Narrative budgeting moves away from spreadsheets as the only way to describe the financial status and health of the church.
Instead, while maintaining financial responsibility, narrative budgeting drives the conversation toward storytelling and highlights ministry-driven spending.
We will also examine how a narrative budget can motivate evangelism, strengthen stewardship, and foster a deeper connection between ministry and mission.

About Tom Greener
Tom Greener brings together 30 years of experience in pastoral ministry, study in spirituality, and a desire to see disciples grow in faith and devotion. He holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University in Classical Studies, a M.A. in Formative Spirituality from Duquesne University, and a DMin in Pastoral Leadership from Wesley Theological. From all those fields and all those perspectives he draws together a sense of ancient themes and modern needs.
His ministry in the local church began in western Pennsylvania, where he served eight years. He joined the North Carolina Conference more than two decades ago, and has served in various urban and suburban settings. He is an avid writer, reader, golfer, cyclist, and author of the book Finding Our Way: How Ancient Practices Help Us Navigate through Stress, Anxiety, and Alienation.
