Richard Morrison

Welcome to our series that spotlights ministries of the NC Conference. Read about other conference ministries as these stories are published weekly.

Richard G. Morrison, Ph.D.

Dr. Richard G. Morrison became a Certified Lay Minister (CLM) in 2024, following many years as a “non-denominational” Christian Lay Speaker. Richard’s CLM Project was to organize a team to start leading Worship Services to seniors in the Wilmington Community. His team, now called Senior Christian Ministry (SCM), of 12 folk, is now leading these weekly Services in three assisted living and two independent living homes, and this dynamic, highly-received ministry is growing to other homes in the near future – related to planned team membership growth.

Senior Christian Ministry

The Senior Christian Ministry (SCM) team preaches the “Good News” of Jesus to the participating assisted and independent living homes’ folk on a weekly basis. New homes will become a part of this ministry once we have an appropriately sized team to handle the required work of this ministry. We always focus on “quality” of Worship Services (including Communion) vs. “quantity,” and this translates into several hours of weekly and monthly work commitment. Hence, future growth will require additional dedicated team members and appropriate resources to support the ministry.

Loving Boldly, Serving Joyfully, and Leading Courageously

Working with seniors who are normally unable to travel to their Church for Sunday Worship is an incredible, wonderful, loving outreach ministry. Our SCM team members are all (12) loving Christians who serve joyfully at all times. About half of our team membership enjoy preaching and are growing in this part of our ministry. Not only are we all feeling that our ministry program requires us to serve boldly and joyfully, we are absolutely having “fun” with the seniors. It is such a wonderful feeling of satisfaction and blessing to share the gospel with Senior Christians. And, as the organizer of this ministry, Dr. Morrison is receiving many blessings with his leadership activities.
