Here’s an overview of NC Conference events and updates from the month of June. 

NC Conference

• The Conference website has a fresh new look! Learn more about the update.
• The Health Team Committee shared an update from their conversations with Disaster Medicine expert, Dr. Wes Wallace. Visit the Coronavirus Response page for more information.
• The #BeUMC focus theme for June was Spirit-filled. Learn more about the campaign, watch new video testimonials, and share A Prayer for the Spirit-filled People of God.

Annual Conference

• 1,104 people registered in attendance at AC 2022 in Greenville, NC. Read the final wrap-up and daily Connection wrap-ups, watch the sessions, and view photos from Conference.

Center for Leadership Excellence

• The Center for Leadership Excellence hosted a webinar, Insights into Aging and the Decisions Older Adults Face, with Jeff Hutchins to explore options to best equip individuals and their support networks.

Christian Formation

• The NC Conference Discipleship and Evangelism Committee announced the 2022 Denman Award recipients at Annual Conference.

Laity Ministries

• Registration for Certified Lay Ministry Day of Discovery is now open through July 12, 2022.

Media Center

• View resources for the Spirit-filled People of God.

Office of Clergy Life

• The Office of Clergy Life in partnership with The Bishop’s Office issued 18 pastoral licenses to Local Pastor beginning their ministry in the NC Conference effective July 1st. Among the active clergy in our conference, 38% are Licensed Local Pastors. Their partnership and ministry among us is essential to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ in eastern North Carolina.

Outreach Ministry

• Read how Congregations for Children has adapted and responded through the pandemic.
• Congregations for Children awarded grants to 9 churches for their summer literacy programs this year.
• Disaster Ministries held an Early Response Team training course in the Harbor District. 

Treasurer’s Office

• The IRS has increased the business mileage rate for the period July 1, 2022, through December 31, 2022.
• Hosted a webinar on Insurance Plan recommended changes with the Wespath HealthFlex Team.

Youth Ministry

• Emily Lain, Youth President, shared an update about Youth Ministries at Annual Conference.
