$ Trauma-Informed Leadership for Effective Engagement in Congregational Life and Community Service (Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary)
November 17, 2025 @ 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
Traumatic experience has become ubiquitous in our world. Very often, congregation and faith-oriented leaders of community service organizations are not prepared to effectively deal with the trauma experienced in their communities. Join Trauma-Informed Leadership for Effective Engagement in Congregational Life and Community Service, with former Garrett President Dr. Lallene Rector.
This course will equip the leader:
1. To understand what constitutes trauma;
2. To consider the impact of the context in which trauma occurs;
3. To articulate a theological understanding of human nature that includes the specific effects of trauma on individuals and communities they serve;
4. To identify pastoral care practices and trauma-sensitive worship design
5. To develop and deepen spiritual practices for self and for the traumatized.
6. To develop a trauma-informed plan of action(s) specific to their context.
This cohort-based course will equip any faith leader to be more trauma-informed in their ministries.
