On April 4, we presented a reading of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s historic 1967 speech, titled “Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence.” The speech is a call to eradicate racism, militarism, and poverty, and was delivered exactly one year before Dr. King’s assassination. Clergy and laity from across the Conference joined together to present Dr. King’s words that still ring with urgency today.
