Rev. Dr. David Stark

Rev. Dr. David Stark serves as Director of the Kerygma Initiative and Homiletics Instructor at Palmer Theological Seminary. The Kerygma Initiative is supported by a Compelling Preaching grant from the Lilly Endowment. He also serves as the Editor of the International Journal of Homiletics. Rev. Dr. Stark is an ordained Elder of the NC Conference.

Kerygma Initiative

The Kerygma Initiative at Palmer Theological Seminary in St. Davids, PA, is committed to inspiring, equipping, and sustaining preachers to proclaim the joy and justice of the gospel. Under the direction of Rev. Dr. David Stark, the Initiative develops practical approaches to preaching that are animated by innovation. Building on the legacy of Rev. Dr. Tony Campolo (BA‘56, MDiv‘61), the Initiative explores prophetic preaching practices that resonate with diverse audiences in churches, online, and in the public square. The Kerygma Initiative partners with Palmer CARES and the Flourishing Leader Project to cultivate healthy, creative, and discerning preachers who can meet the challenges and opportunities of ministry in the 21st century.

A Leader Forming Ministry

Rev. Dr. Stark is training students (M.Div., D.Min., and Ph.D.) and clergy in preaching practices.
