Are you a college student exploring a call to ministry? If so, consider applying for our conference’s Taste and See Summer Internship!
This summer program is designed to help you “taste” what pastoral ministry is like and “see” if it’s a good fit for you. Whether you’re early in your discernment journey or preparing for Divinity School, this internship offers a chance to experience full-time ministry firsthand.
When I first began discerning my call to ministry, I had no idea what a pastor did on a daily basis. Even so, I felt a deep sense that God was inviting me to explore how my passion for the church intersected with my calling and vocation.
Thankfully, I had the opportunity to participate in Taste and See as a college student. During the 10-week internship, I served full-time in a church, gaining invaluable experience. I helped plan and lead worship, facilitated Bible studies and youth gatherings, and learned from my mentor pastor as she equipped the laity to lead in and through the administrative committees of the church.
This program not only gave me the time and space to reflect on my call, but it also connected me with peers discerning a call to ministry and mentors who continue to guide me more than a decade later. Today, I’m thrilled to coordinate the Taste and See Summer Internship! If you know a college student discerning a call to ministry, please share this opportunity with them. They can apply online until March 14, 2025. Feel free to email me at discernment@nccumc.org with any questions.
