Greensboro College wins fundraiser

Welcome to our series that spotlights NC Conference pastors serving in extension ministries. Read about other extension ministers as these stories are published weekly.

Rev. Dr. Robert Brewer

Rev. Dr. Robert Brewer is the Campus Chaplain and Assistant Professor of Religion at Greensboro College. He oversees religious life and community service, as well as teaches practical theology courses in the religion program.

Greensboro College

The Religious Life and Community Service office at Greensboro College oversees several initiatives on campus, including weekly chapel worship, small group Bible studies, community service projects, the food pantry, and the community garden on campus.

A highlight from this year is participating in the Food Lion Hunger Challenge with leadership from two students. As the smallest college in the competition, Greensboro College brought home the first-place win (for the second year in a row) and a $10,000 check to support their food pantry and food insecurity initiatives on campus. A story about the new food pantry was featured on Spectrum News.

A Disciple Making, Leader Forming, and Peace Building Ministry

The Religious Life and Community Service office creates disciples through weekly chapel worship, small groups, and community service programs. They develop student leaders who organize, plan, and serve on campus in small groups, chapel, and community service programs. They help build bridges on campus and in the community by partnering with the Boys and Girls Club to provide safe and educational programs throughout the year. They fight against food insecurity and instability in college by offering support to students in need, thus creating a healthy and more peaceable kingdom here on earth.
