Rev. Amie Stewart
Rev. Amie Stewart serves as the Director of Conference Relations for the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. Rev. Stewart is an ordained deacon living in Apex, NC, worshiping at Holly Springs UMC, and working remotely with occasional travel for meetings across the U.S. She is involved with coaching girls’ soccer, audiobooks, baking, and walking.

General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM)
Serving with GBHEM, Rev. Stewart works within the Ministry Team as a primary support for the Boards of Ordained Ministry across the connection. Additionally, she supports the chairs of the orders of elders and deacons, as well as the fellowship of local pastors and associate members. She is developing programs to extend the ministry of vocational discernment coordinators and engage the work of recruiting and equipping individuals for credentialed ministry. GBHEM is now partnering with the General Board of Global Ministries and locates much of its activity between Nashville, TN, and Atlanta, GA.
A Leader Forming Ministry
Within The UMC, GBHEM is hopeful to increase the number of individuals discerning a call to licensed or ordained ministry. Rev. Stewart’s ministry centers on resourcing and empowering the leaders across the jurisdictional conferences who are developing programs appropriate to their context. Additionally, GBHEM helps to interpret the legislation within the Book of Discipline that pertains to the work of Ordained Ministry and related leadership positions. Rev. Stewart is very eager to review and consider the ordination process in order to make it more equitable and accessible for all.
