Posted on

Welcome to our series that spotlights NC Conference pastors serving in extension ministries. Read about other extension ministers as these stories are published weekly.

Rev. Lindsey G. Eklund

Rev. Lindsey G. Eklund serves as Director of Spiritual Care for Bayview Manor Retirement Community. She is an ordained elder in the NC Conference, currently serving in part-time extension ministry in Seattle, WA. She also has a small music studio and leads music and movement classes for children and the grown-ups who love them. Her family frequently opens their home to children in need of family support and respite through foster care. She enjoys travel, meeting new people, cheese of all types, and singing with her competitive a cappella group.

Bayview Manor Retirement Community

At Bayview Manor Retirement Community, Rev. Eklund advocates for and encourages the spiritual care and emotional well-being of the resident and employed community, provides support groups for caregivers and those in the season of grief, offers services of worship, and opportunities for missional engagement.

A Disciple Making Ministry

The retirement stage of life often comes with big changes to our daily activities, the roles we play, and the way we see ourselves. Although it is often an exciting and fulfilling time, it can also feel unfamiliar. That’s particularly true for people who retire from full-time careers or who no longer spend the bulk of their time raising or supporting a family. As we age, we can learn that exploring our spiritual well-being is a way to renew our outlook on life, become more attuned to our place in the world, and benefit from the potentially restorative nature of life-affirming spiritual practices. Rev. Eklund comes alongside residents and employees as they explore questions of faith and seek a deeper spiritual walk.
