Meet Our 2025 Recipients

Joseph Hyun-Soak Park, Clergy, St. James UMC (Newport)

Jack Parker, Laity, Edenton UMC

Seanna Alebiosu, Youth, Millbrook UMC
Who Should You Nominate?
An evangelist has the gift of reaching out to others and introducing or helping bring them into a life-giving relationship with Christ. Evangelism is not a one-size-fits-all strategy, but an opportunity to share our faith and communicate how Jesus has impacted us through our words and actions.
Have you seen your pastor reaching outside your church membership to form connections with your neighbors? Is there a youth in your church who consistently invites and welcomes new people into youth group? Do you have a lay person who finds ways to lead others to a deeper connection with Christ? If so, nominate them for the Evangelism Award.
The Evangelism and Discipleship Team seeks a diverse group of nominees who develop deep and authentic connections with people who do not know the love of Christ. The award is less about leading Bible studies for members in the church building and more about being in the community as a Christ-like presence, sharing the Good News.
Who is eligible to receive the Evangelism Award?
- Clergy – any UMC elder, provisional elder, deacon, provisional deacon, or local pastor serving in the North Carolina Conference;
- Laity – anyone who is a member of a UMC congregation in the North Carolina Conference;
- Youth – a middle or high school age student who is a member of a UMC congregation in the North Carolina Conference.
