AGAPE Sunday

Project AGAPE – ministry to Armenia and to some of our most desperate Christian brothers and sisters – is a collaborative effort of the North Carolina and Western North Carolina Conferences of The United Methodist Church in a joint effort with the Armenian Apostolic Church.

Human Relations Day

Every January, on the Sunday before the observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, United Methodists come together to help bridge the gap between church and community. Our collective gifts on this day help build beloved community by supporting life-changing programs that reach out to neighborhoods and teens in crisis and share the love and hope of Jesus Christ.

Scouting Sunday

Scouting Sunday is an opportunity for the church to embrace a community of servants who connect youth with skills, leadership, and character. It is an opportunity for the church to be the body of Christ.

Methodist Home for Children Sunday

Methodist Home for Children Sunday is the one day a year when congregations take up a special collection for the children served by MHC – children who come from empty homes, failing in school, looking for acceptance in all the wrong places.

Camp Sunday

Camp has a way of changing lives—through faith, friendships, and unforgettable experiences in God’s creation. On Camp Sunday, celebrate the impact of camp and help make it possible for more kids to experience its life-changing power.

Girl Scout Sunday

On Girl Scout Sunday, many troops celebrate the connections between Girl Scouting and their faith, learn more about other faiths, and thank faith partners for their support throughout the year.

UMCOR Sunday

UMCOR Sunday

UMCOR Sunday supports the incredible work of the United Methodist Committee on Relief. Together, we can strengthen and develop the church’s global humanitarian response for on-the-ground relief and recovery efforts. Gifts on this Special Sunday cover UMCOR’s operational costs, ensuring 100% of other donations go directly to relief efforts.

Native American Ministries Sunday

United Methodists are called to recognize and honor the gifts and contributions made by Native Americans to our society and church. The United Methodist Church acknowledges a gap in understanding Native American life and culture while affirming the sacredness of Indigenous peoples, their languages, their unique identities, and their contributions to the church and the world.

United Methodist Student Day Sunday

Together, we can invest in the spiritual growth and financial support of our United Methodist students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. Connectional giving on this Special Sunday supports scholarships and educational programs for students.

United Methodist Retirement Homes Sunday

The Mother’s Day Offering supports the Benevolent Care Annual Fund and provides financial and personal resources for residents who can no longer fully pay their way. In many cases, these residents have no other means of support and often no family. By supporting this fund, you can make a difference in the lives of these residents.

Heritage Sunday

On the third Sunday of May, United Methodists celebrate Heritage Sunday, a day to honor our past and envision our future. The observance corresponds with Aldersgate Day, which commemorates the day – May 24, 1738 – when John Wesley, while attending a group meeting on Aldersgate Street in London, felt his heart was strangely warmed with the assurance of God’s love.

Peace with Justice Sunday

On Peace with Justice Sunday, we come together to support ministries that work for peace and fairness around the world. This Special Sunday equips United Methodists to advocate for change and support ministries that challenge systems of inequality and violence.

Men’s Ministry Sunday

With Father’s Day at the center, June naturally invites us to celebrate fathers and men—a meaningful time to honor their leadership and legacy in the church and community. Men’s Ministry Sunday affirms their role as disciples, mentors, and servants in both church and community life.

Disability Awareness Sunday

Disability Awareness Sunday is a celebration of the gifts and graces of people with disabilities and a call to deepen our commitment to full inclusion of persons with disabilities. The NC Conference invites congregations to choose any Sunday in July to celebrate Disability Awareness Sunday. Because July is also Disability Pride Month, it provides a particularly fitting opportunity to honor disability as part of God’s diverse creation.

More Special Sundays are being added. Check back soon for resources for all Special Sundays observed in the NC Conference.
