Dr. Michelle Taylor Skipper
Dr. Michelle Taylor Skipper serves as a Certified Lay Minister (CLM) at St. Matthews UMC in Fayetteville. She has served in the Gateway District since 1991. She is currently serving as a bivocational CLM assigned to St. Matthews UMC while leading the Adult and Family Nurse Practitioner programs at East Carolina University. The internet and a hybrid car help her live in Laurinburg, geographically close to her family, ranging from her 82-year-old mom, Gladys, to her 11-month-old grandson, Hampton Bruce Skipper.

St. Matthews UMC
Michelle serves a part-time appointment at St. Matthews UMC, a 69-year-old suburban congregation located in Fayetteville. Her ministry includes leading traditional and contemporary worship weekly with an amazing group of diverse laity. She’s led 20 mission teams to El Ayudante in Leon, Nicaragua, and is also part of the Sandhills Emmaus Community.

Loving Boldly, Serving Joyfully, Leading Courageously
With a heart for service, Michelle approaches every ministry opportunity with gratitude and enthusiasm. Her joy is evident in worship leadership, outreach, and mentoring others in faith. She serves not out of obligation, but out of deep love for God and neighbor. Good music and hugs from children fill up her spiritual cup to overflowing.
In all that she does, Michelle lives as a witness to the transforming power of God’s grace—that amazing grace she has personally experienced and hopes to share with others around her.
