Statistician’s Report Presented Saturday

Posted on

Rev. Dennis Peay, Conference Statistician, presented the Statistician’s Report Friday afternoon, providing insight into local church worship attendance trends, participation in ministries, and giving.

The tables in the report reflect the story of 438 churches that reported membership, expenditures, and stewardship in 2024. The report can be found on pages 85 and 86 in the Conference Workbook

Peay celebrated the faithful work of 438 churches in the NC Conference, representing 142,385 United Methodists, who make up an average in-person worship attendance of 28,957. In the past year:

  • We celebrated 804 baptisms
  • $1,048,561 was given toward United Methodist Men’s projects, and $596,074 was given toward United Women in Faith projects
  • 6,073 youth participated in United Methodist Youth ministries
  • 384 people worked with United Methodist Volunteers in Mission
  • $710,993.90 was given to UMCOR, United Methodist Missionaries, and the Advance, helping to fund the ministry and people who make ministry possible across the world
  • The year closed with 438 churches paying out $9,541,764 in apportionments

Peay reflected on working with churches throughout the conference and participants who engaged in the “Tables Are Open” webinar. “Together, we interpreted statistical realities, dreamed new ministry possibilities, and reframed narratives of scarcity into stories of opportunities.”

At the conclusion of the report, Peay shared that the Tables will open in early January 2026 and encouraged leaders to reach out with any questions.

The final version of the report will be published in the Conference Journal.
