The Director of Community Life helps to create a church culture where every person feels seen, welcomed, and integrated into the body of Christ. This role seeks to create avenues that move people from first-time visitors to full participants in the life of the church. By overseeing welcoming ministries, guest follow-up, membership processes, connection groups, and small group ministries, this person will help ensure that The Peak fulfills its mission of “gathering all who feel disconnected” not just from God, but also from one another.
Welcoming Ministries:
- Lead and oversee the church’s hospitality and guest assimilation strategy, ensuring a warm and intentional experience for first-time visitors and returning guests
- Recruit, train, and oversee volunteer teams related to hospitality, welcome ministry, connection events, and assimilation efforts
- Coordinate systems for guest follow-up, including new visitor communication, next-step invitations, and additional engagement opportunities
- Develop and strengthen clear pathways for individuals and families to move from visiting to active participation in the life of the church
Membership:
- Plan, host, and assist the pastoral team in facilitating a quarterly new member class (i.e., “Next Steps”)
- Send personalized invitations to new visitors, inviting them to each Next Steps class
- Partner with pastors, staff, and the Nominations Team to ensure each new member finds meaningful opportunities for spiritual growth, service, and belonging
- Communicate with the pastoral and care team to notify them of major life events (e.g., surgeries, the death of a pet, new babies).
Small Group + Community Ministries:
- Support and strengthen the church’s small group ministry by helping people connect to groups, recruiting and supporting group leaders, and identifying opportunities for new groups to form
- Host “open enrollment” for new small group creation 3-4 times per year
- Assist new members who choose to find their own group by making sure all group information is current and accessible
- Work with the Pastor of Discipleship to provide small group leaders with facilitation and discussion guides
- Provide small group leaders with curriculum recommendations to preserve and protect the theological teaching that occurs in small group settings
- Regularly check in with small group leaders to offer coaching, support, and help problem-solve issues that emerge
- Provide that same support for our Connection Ministries (i.e., Men’s, Women’s, Queerly Beloved, JOY, etc.)
- Work with Connection Ministry Leaders in event creation, scheduling, and budgetary support for their ministries and events
- Collaborate with communications staff to ensure clear and consistent messaging around connection events, next steps, and opportunities for involvement
