Worship Committee
The Worship Committee is a programming committee that works with local congregations, especially those with limited resources, to help resource, vision, and engage a more robust, experiential, transformational, and enlivened local church worship experience. We do this through in-person and virtual training opportunities, and we are in the process of building a resource website.

The worship committee resources North Carolina Conference churches with liturgy, worship materials, and training for pastors and worship leaders in various contexts. In 2025, we offered our first 4-in-1 Worship Training for laity and clergy at St. Mark’s UMC in Raleigh. We covered the prayer of Great Thanksgiving, worship design, Worship and AI, and preaching funerals. In 2026, along with the Center for Leadership Excellence, we will extend one of the four topics (on Worship and AI) via a webinar. Based on the feedback from the previous session, we will offer another 4-in-1 training in August solely on the topic of funerals: planning, working with funeral homes, preaching, and grief.

Committee members include: Glenn Stallsmith (co-chair), Rani Woodrow (co-chair), Colin Snider, Bill Negron, Anne Sims, Tobi Nguyen, Marsena Mungin, and Chris Dodson.
Loving Boldly, Serving Joyfully, Leading Courageously
We love boldly by equipping congregations to proclaim the gospel through worship that is experiential, theologically grounded, and attentive to the needs of their communities.
We serve joyfully by providing practical worship resources and training for clergy and laity, including in-person and virtual opportunities that strengthen the worship life of local congregations.
We lead courageously by engaging emerging questions and challenging pastoral moments through thoughtful training, collaboration, and resource development.
