Josey is a United Methodist deaconess, a layperson consecrated into a lifetime vocation of ministries of love, justice, and service. She serves in the Connectional Ministries office as Associate Director for Leadership Development and Christian Formation, with most of her work supporting the initiatives of the Center for Leadership Excellence and Lay Servant Ministries. She also supports the Office of Race Equity and Justice as a Qualified Administrator (QA) for the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). Josey holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology, and a PhD in Hebrew Bible from Emory University.
Josey lives in Cary, NC, with her husband, three growing children, and a lively backyard farm that includes two dogs, two cats, five chickens, and three ducks. She is the author of Lot’s Wife in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Interpretation, a book that grew out of her doctoral work.
