We encourage you to consider contributing at least 5% of your compensation if you aren\u2019t already doing so.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why 5%?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both Compass and UMPIP are designed to help you build long-term financial security\u2014and to reward your participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under the Compass retirement plan, contributing a minimum of <strong>4% of your pay qualifies you to receive the full match<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under UMPIP, contributing a minimum <strong>just 1% earns you the full match<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Together, these plans make it possible to grow your retirement savings with significant matching contributions. The NC Conference Board of Pension recommends a <strong>5% personal contribution<\/strong>, which aligns well with maximizing both plans. If you contribute less than the minimums noted above, you will be leaving matching dollars on the table\u2014don\u2019t miss out on this opportunity for \u201cfree money\u201d that can make a meaningful difference over time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Why <em>now<\/em>?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even a small increase can have a big impact. Setting your contribution at 5% now helps establish a strong foundation for your future and builds a habit of consistent saving.
