On April, 16, 2020, the Small Business Administration announced that the lending limit of the Paycheck Protection Program of the CARES Act had been reached. In reaching that limit, the program will be on hold while those approved receive funding and the federal government considers if any additional funding will be provided. Many program lenders have announced that they will suspend processing any new applications while they work through the backlog of previous applications and funding for approved applications. Churches who have made application to the PPP through their banks should continue to pursue the application process to determine if they have been approved already or to prepare themselves if additional funding is made available. Churches may also evaluate other options including the EIDL program or maybe the Employer Retention Credit for assistance. Churches seeking financial assistance can complete a Local Church Assistance Request Form to be considered for various forms of assistance through the NC Conference.
