Nancy serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Capital and Fairway Districts of the North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church. Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Nancy has a lifelong passion for service that led her to a career in mental health. She earned her degree in social work and spent 17 years with the University of Miami Child Protection Team, conducting assessments of children and families involved in allegations of abuse and neglect.
In 2012, Nancy relocated to Clayton, North Carolina, following her husband, Rev. Rafael Martinez, a United Methodist ordained elder, and has since continued serving within the North Carolina Conference. Having committed her life to God at a young age, Nancy has served the United Methodist Church in numerous leadership roles. She is a Consecrated Stephen Minister and a certified coach with Passion in Partnership.
Nancy considers it a privilege to serve the church and to share God’s unconditional love through her work and ministry. She is the proud mother of four children—two biological and two through marriage—Valerie, Leuvis, Liliam, and Marcos. —and a joyful grandmother of four grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading, and traveling.
