My name is Marcharkelti McKenzie. My name is original. It is made up of my mom’s, dad’s, and two brother’s names: Mary, Charles, Kelvin, and Tim. Just as my name is unique, my story is as well.
From the time I was 9 years old, I played softball with my dad. He has always been my coach. Softball taught me life lessons, such as not to give up, work through it, and to always give it your all. When working in missions, I am reminded of the lessons softball has taught me.
When playing outfield, to catch the ball, your first step is always back, then you run up, even when you’re running to catch the ball. Sometimes you miss it. Sometimes you catch it. Sometimes the light gets in the way. That is how my relationship is with God. God gives me grace and talents and sometimes I miss them the first time. But just like softball, I can pick them up and do what is necessary to keep the game going.
I love God and the game of softball.
