One morning, I was having a lot of pain. I felt angry for having this awful pain, so I thought perhaps I would just stay in bed. I then decided to do my daily devotion with plans to get back in bed after that. When I opened my Bible, Psalm 4:4-5 was visible: “Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the Lord.”
These verses made me realize that I must trust God even in pain. I realized that no matter what we go through, we must trust God and believe that He will bring us through. Thus, that day my “right sacrifice” to God was for me to trust my faith in God through the pain.
Faith transforms us from brokenness to wholeness. Faith is believing that there is power in calling upon the name of Jesus, including trusting God and believing in the resurrected Jesus. That trust comes through repentance.
Therefore, when we suffer and put our trust in God, the suffering does not defeat us. Trusting God strengthens faith. In order to trust and believe, we must have a faith beyond what we understand. We must believe and act in faith and give the glory of all acts of faith to God, for nothing that we do in the name of Jesus is of our own power.
God, give me a faith that will endure all attempts to weaken my trust in you and a resolve that will strengthen my faith. Help me this day to have complete trust in you and allow that trust to guide my life. Help me Lord to not sin in my anger! Amen.
