Day of Learning Scheduled in November
The Academy for Leadership Excellence will present “Reaching People Under 40 While Keeping People Over 60″ on Wednesday, Nov. 20 from 9a.m.-3p.m. at Nashville UMC. Open to all clergy and laity, this Day of Learning will be facilitated by Edward Hammett, certified coach and coach trainer, author of books on equipping the church for more effective ministry, and an adjunct professor at Gardner-Webb Divinity School. The workshop will be interactive among church teams (clergy and laity) around leadership in generational issues. The ultimate objective is for each person and team to take-away at least two practical ideas that would move them forward in the reaching/keeping challenge. Join the Celebration at Camp Rockfish

Book/Day Apart with CEF
The NC Chapter of Christian Educators Fellowship is sponsoring a Book Day/Day Apart at Fuquay-Varina UMC on Sept. 26, 10a.m.-2p.m. The Rev. Carl Frazier (First: Cary) will share “Table Talk,” a community approach to Bible study and will share how his congregation was transformed through this Bible study for all ages and stages. Hispanic/Latino Committee Seeks Information
The Conference Hispanic/Latino Committee asks pastors or appropriate church staff take a few minutes to respond to a survey identifying Hispanic/Latino ministries in the conference. The survey is three questions and should take no more than two minutes to complete. The deadline to complete the survey is Tuesday, Oct. 1.
Deadline Approaching for Clarity Event
The Commission on Evangelism’s fall event, Clarity, is almost full. The registration deadline is Thursday, Sept. 19. Registrations received after that date may be wait-listed. Clarity is an evangelism emersion involving a clergy and two laity from a church in addressing the need to connect the church to the local community in today’s environment. The cost to attend is $75 per church. This cost covers room, board and seminars from Thursday, Oct. 24 through Saturday, Oct. 26. Cowboy Campout at Chestnut Ridge

Some Spaces Available for Children’s Ministry Training
There are still spaces open for the Children’s Ministry 101 event on Saturday, Sept. 28 at Horne Memorial UMC (Clayton) from 9a.m. till 1p.m. Sponsored by the conference committee on children’s ministries, the event will give volunteer children’s workers a year’s worth of ideas moving through the church seasons.
