Register for the workshop, Reaching Younger Adults
The church is reaching a small percentage of what is now a large demographic in the US, young adults between the ages of 18 and 35. While some are students attending schools away from home, some are starting careers or families in places where churches are longing for more young people. How do we connect with this group? Connectional Table to host human sexuality live stream
The Connectional Table’s Human Sexuality Task Force is hosting the second of three live stream events on Saturday, Nov. 1 from 8am until 10am Central Time. United Methodists who would like to participate in this discussion are encouraged to create a YouTube video explaining a personal story that pertains to unity and/or human sexuality and pose a question about Finding Our Way to one of the bishops or the editor. Videos must be no longer than 2-3 minutes. Tag the video using #cttalks and email a link to aboggan@umc.org prior to Fri., Oct. 17. Three videos will be selected and shown at the event. UMF Encourages you to elect a Legacy Leader
The NC Annual Conference passed a resolution in 2006 to establish a position of Legacy Leader in each local church to be charged with learning about planned giving options and developing an ongoing endowment and planned giving initiative within the congregation. The United Methodist Foundation is equipped to provide hands on training for this leadership position. A position description and a suggested list of leadership qualities for an effective Legacy Leader can be found on the United Methodist Foundation website. This year be sure to elect a Legacy Leader at your next charge conference.
Bishop’s Forum on Israel/Palestine
On Oct. 16, the Bishop’s Forum will be focusing on the church’s response to the Israel/Palestine crisis. The forum will begin at 11am and end at 1pm. Our guest speaker will be The Rev. Alex Joyner, author of a book on Israel and currently Superintendent of the Eastern Shore District of the Virginia Conference.
