Bishop’s Young Clergy Day Apart
NC Conference Young Clergy and Seminarians (35 and under) are invited to attend a Day Apart with Bishop Hope Morgan Ward. This event will take place at the Methodist Building in Garner on Oct. 30, from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Attendees will share in worship, fellowship and discussion around the book “Bearing Fruit: Ministry with Real Results” by Lovett Weems and Tom Berlin. Lunch will be provided, though please bring $5 to offset costs. Childcare has been arranged at Garner UMC for a small fee to those who need it. Conference UMM sponsoring Pig Pickin’ Cook Off
NC Conference United Methodist Men are hosting a Pig Pickin’ Cook-Off to benefit 3MC ministries and outreach. This event will be Saturday, Nov. 3 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m, at the 3MC Center in Goldsboro. Each district UMM group will be entering a pig to cook with many local congregations providing side dishes and drinks. There will be inflatables for kids as well as face painting, horse shoes, volleyball, music. Everyone is invited to come and join in the fun and food. Download the flyer here.
Fall session of the Academy for Christian Witness
The Commission on Evangelism invites all laity interested in practical ways to empower your church to go and make disciples in your neighborhood to attend The Academy for Christian Witness 2012, Oct. 25-27 at Camp Rockfish. Stewardship education event by UMF
On Election Day, Nov. 6, elect to spend part of the day learning ways to make a lasting difference in the life of your church. The United Methodist Foundation will host the first of several collaborative stewardship educational initiatives called “Ways to Means.” The one-day event will include topics necessary to strengthen the financial base that is crucial to funding the mission and ministry of the Church into the future. This first event will be held at the Aqueduct Conference Center just outside the city of Chapel Hill from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided. The cost for this event is $15 per person or $10 per person for churches who have three or more attending. (more).

Reggie McNeal enjoys helping people, leaders, and Christian organizations pursue more intentional lives. He currently serves as the Missional Leadership Specialist for the Leadership Network of Dallas, TX. Reggie’s past experience involves over a decade as a denominational executive and leadership development coach. He also served in local congregational leadership for over 20 years. Reggie is coming to the NC Conference Nov. 2 and 3 to converse with clergy and laity on leading churches beyond the four walls, to engage persons who will not come in the church door. He will speak on the same topic both days, allowing clergy and laity to choose the presentation that best suits their schedule and location. The Friday session will be from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., at St. Luke UMC, Sanford. The Saturday event, also from 9:30 a.m. -3:30 p.m., will be held at the Methodist Building, Garner. Three sessions for Early Responder Training scheduled
3MC is hosting basic disaster Early Response Training on the following dates: Nov. 10, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Feb. 9, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., and May 11, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Training will be held at 3MC (formerly the MERCI warehouse in Goldsboro) and is open to anyone wishing to be trained as an Early Responder.
