Register Now for the Retirement Planning Seminar
The Retirement Planning Seminar is a time for clergy considering retirement in the next 10 years to hear vital information about that life changing event. Begin making the preparations today towards a fruitful retirement. Seminar topics include estate planning, important legal documents everyone should have, in-depth pension plan information, health insurance in retirement, and making healthy interpersonal relationship transitions. Ready, Set, Teach – Important Tools for Discipling Mission
Delia Halverson, a well-recognized author and consultant in all areas of Christian Education, will lead this teaching seminar. This seminar will explore age-related needs and offer practical tools for leading, teaching, facilitating, and giving general oversight to all areas of the teaching ministry of the local church. One Great Hour of Sharing is one of the six churchwide Special Sundays with offerings of The United Methodist Church. OGHS enables the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) to live out its mission to alleviate human suffering. Celebrating Charles Wesley and Frank Baker – June 22–24
This gathering at Duke Divinity School constitutes the Twenty-second Annual Meeting of The Charles Wesley Society. It will include presentations on several aspects of the writings and life of Charles Wesley. It has been designed to commemorate as well Frank Baker, one of the most eminent twentieth-century scholars of John and Charles Wesley. Find more details, and register, at the Duke Divinity website.

Links of Grace – April 29
Golfers of all skill levels are encouraged to gather in Clayton for friendly competition, fun and to make a difference in the lives of many others. Morning and afternoon flights tee-off at 8:30am and 2:00pm, with a delicious down-home meal in between. And, as if the beautiful Neuse Golf Course isn’t treat enough, sweet surprises that include contests, prizes, and refreshments are plentiful. Pre-registration is required.

Native American Ministries Sunday – May 22
Native American Ministries Sunday is only two months away. Be sure to order free offering resources to promote the May 22 offering that supports Native American ministries and helps United Methodist Native American seminarians to become church leaders.

 

Extra Conference Journals
The Conference Secretary’s Office has extra copies of the 2010 Conference Journal on CD and hard copy’s. The CD’s are $12 and the hard copy’s are $30. Please send your request and payment to the Conference Secretary’s Office at P.O. Box 1970, Garner, 27529.

Clergy Academy of Christian Witness – April 5-7
The Commission on Evangelism is offering the Clergy Academy of Christian Witness from April 5-7 at Camp Rockfish. Because sessions have been revamped to address changing needs of ministry, this training is open to ALL clergy. Space is limited. First come-first served! Faith and Rural Life Conference – April 4-5
Clergy and laity in North Carolina are invited to explore the shape of Christian community and the nature of Christian mission in a small-town, rural context during Faith and Rural Life: Down to Earth Ministry, an ecumenical gathering hosted by Mount Olive College, in Mount Olive, April 4 & 5. For the complete schedule and workshop descriptions, download the conference brochure. This is a free event ($5 lunch ticket). The lectures are open to the public, but participants are encouraged to register for the workshops in advance by calling Laura Getz at Mount Olive College at 919-635-2787 or emailing her at lgetz@moc.edu.
