Southern, Banks, Innes, Reaves receive appointment changes
The Rev. Dr. Gray Southern, Corridor District superintendent, has been appointed as senior pastor at Apex UMC; the Rev. Donna Banks, superintendent of the Heritage District moves to the Corridor District; the Rev. Randy Innes moves from Pine Valley UMC in Wilmington to Heritage District superintendent; and the Rev. Dr. Tim Reaves moves from the Bladen Charge to pastor at Pine Valley, Bishop Al Gwinn announced on July 31. The Southern appointment is effective Sept. 1 and the Banks and Innes appointments are effective Aug. 1.

Golden Cross Ministry provides assistance for medical expenses
Golden Cross is a ministry that reaches out to the laity in this Annual Conference who are experiencing financial difficulty due to excessive medical expenses. Through Golden Cross, United Methodists care for members of our local churches in times of emotional stress and financial need. Funds are made possible through contributions received on Golden Cross Sunday, Aug. 19. For more information about this special ministry or to download worship resources, go to Golden Cross.

Worship and Song resources discounted by Cokesbury

Calling youth to IGNITE
The conference Commission on Evangelism has created a two-day event called IGNITE to empower youth to share their faith story and share the Good News of Christ! Andy Lambert is the leader for IGNITE! Marty Cauley is writing a curriculum that will be fun, powerful, and Wesleyan. IGNITE runs Sept. 28-30 at Camp Rockfish. For more information on this new and exciting adventure, go to IGNITE.

Disciple Bible Outreach Sunday – August 26
Sunday, Aug. 26 is Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries’ Sunday. On this date, a conference-wide special offering will be received for DBOM’s prison and local church ministries. Please mark your calendar! Pastors will soon be receiving offering envelopes by direct mail. These should arrive no later than Aug. 20.
