Peace Conference to address poverty, abundance, and peace
The fourth annual Lake Junaluska Peace Conference, “Poverty, Abundance, and Peace: Seeking Economic Justice for all God’s Children,” will take place November 13 – 15. Keynote speakers include Senator George McGovern and Dr. David Beckmann, Executive Director of Bread for the World. United Methodist Bishop Ntambo of the Congo and other leaders will be joining them. The Lake Junaluska Peace Conference is a rich opportunity for persons of all ages and faith traditions. In keeping with the commitment of the Peace Conference to Interfaith peacemaking, the Conference will also feature an interfaith panel of Jewish, Muslim and Christian scholars on the topic, “What Our Sacred Texts and Traditions Say in Regard to Economic Justice and Peace.”

Online Registration for Pilgrimage opens Aug. 1
The 2011 Pilgrimage for youth will be Nov. 11-13 in Fayetteville. Leaders may begin registering groups on Aug. 1 at the official Pilgrimage website, http://nccpilgrimage.org/. Also on the website is information about the speakers, the special musical guest, and information about how local church groups can get involved.
