Methodist Home for Children Sunday
Make a gift of stability, love and healing with the power to change a child’s life. Methodist Home for Children Sunday is the one day a year when churches in the North Carolina Conference take up a special offering for the children and families served by MHC. Most churches will observe MHC Sunday on Feb. 17, but others participate earlier or later in the month, as schedules permit. Duke Youth Academy June 16-29
The Duke Youth Academy for Christian Formation at Duke Divinity School is designed for senior high youth who are bright and passionate about the church and interested in growing as Christians. Days are patterned by worship through word and sacrament, reflection on scripture, study, service, play; practices ancient and modern that nourish the life of faith. The Duke Youth Academy for Christian Formation (DYA) is a two-week summer program for selected high school students to live in an intentional Christian community on the campus of Duke University where they will meet Christians from all over the country and from many denominations who are transforming the world. March Mayhem 5K run/walk benefit DBOM
The “March Mayhem” 5K run/walk will be a fundraising event for DISCIPLE Bible Outreach Ministries (DBOM) of North Carolina. DBOM, a Methodist ministry, creates partnerships between parish and prison to deepen Bible Study for all of Jesus’ disciples inside and outside prison walls. Mark the calendar for March 23, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary. Pre-registration fee is $20; same-day registration is $25. There will be a prize for best dressed team!
2013 Clergy Partners’ Day of Renewal
The Clergy Partners’ Day of Renewal will be Saturday, April 13 at Southern Pines UMC. There are many sessions to choose from: book discussion of “Live in the Fish Bowl” by Dr. Belton Joyner; Zumba; Being a Partner in Ministry; Missions in our Conference and our Backyard; Reflection Stations and Labyrinth Walk; and Maintaining Your Own Strengths and Identity. Cost is $15 per person (free for seminary students and student pastor spouses.) This includes a Continental Breakfast and Lunch. Childcare will be provided. Registration is due by April 1.
