Bishop’s Forum Feb. 12 Cancelled
The Bishop’s Forum scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 12, has been cancelled due to the approaching winter storm. The topic will be rescheduled for a later date.
Pastoral Care for the Sexually Abused
Duke Divinity School is hosting a conference called “Sanctuary for the Sexually Abused: An Introduction to Pastoral Care.” The conference will be held on Saturday, March 1, from 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. in 0016 Westbrook. Topics of conversation will include the reality and prevalence of sexual abuse (SA), the effect of SA upon the body and mind, the impact of SA upon one’s relationship with God, self, and others, and practical approaches to ministering, caring, and advocating for survivors of SA in the congregation and the pulpit. This event is free and complimentary breakfast, lunch, and child care will be provided to all registered persons. Space is limited to 200 persons, and registration is required at Pastoral Care. Request from Archives and History
The Conference Office of Archives and History is requesting photos of all churches in the conference, both present and past. Pastors, please ask the church historian or someone else in your church to email digital photos to be put on a DVD and displayed at Annual Conference. Photos are needed by May 1. Send photos and identifying information (church name, location, district and contact person) to
archives-history@nccumc.org. Thank you for helping to make conference history come alive.
Reports and Resolutions due May 2
The Conference Secretary’s Office is asking that all reports and resolutions for annual conference be submitted no later than May 2. For reports requiring a vote by the Annual Conference, the May 2 deadline is absolute as the reports will be included in printed materials to be passed out at Annual Conference. All reports and resolutions should be emailed to smedlin@nccumc.org.
MissionInsite Workshops to be Videostreamed
The MissionInsite workshops on Feb. 24 and 25 will be videostreamed for persons not able to travel to Garner. The workshops are not identical and each presenter will discuss different types of information that can be gleaned from MissionInsite. Tom Bandy will lead the conversation on Monday, Feb. 24 from 1-4 p.m. Peter Wernett will serve as presenter on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 9 a.m. – noon.
