Duke Endowment gift to retirees to be sent in December
The annual payments provided for retirees and their widows by The Duke Endowment will be sent this month. The payments are expected to be processed after Dec.15. The Duke Endowment and the NC Conference are pleased to honor our retirees by providing this annual gift in recognition of their service. For questions, contact JoAnna Cafferty or Caroline Thornton in the Treasurer’s Office.

Assistance available to churches for construction
The North Carolina Annual Conference is in a unique position when it comes to helping congregations in need of construction/renovation project assistance. Through the NCC Board of Missions Inc., the Conference is itself, a licensed General Contractor within the State of North Carolina. No project is too large or too small. read more

GBOPHB Beneficiary update reminder
This fall, all participants with the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits (GBOPHB) plans were sent a mailing asking them to confirm or update beneficiary information. Updating this information will help ensure benefit payments are made to the correct beneficiaries. Participants were asked to review the beneficiaries currently on file and confirm the beneficiary information, or update the information by completing a new beneficiary designation form. In the interest of good stewardship, participants are encouraged to complete and return the forms so a second request will not have to be sent by certified mail. For questions, contact JoAnna Cafferty (ext. 225) in the Treasurer’s Office.

Children’s Home in Haiti still in need of supplies
Recently, a workteam from the NC Conference, including Bishop Gwinn and many members of the Cabinet, went to Haiti to do construction work on the new phase of the Ryan Epps Home for Children. There are still supply needs as work continues to complete the inside of the dormitories, dining area, and staff housing building. Persons, groups, or churches who would like to contribute to this endeavor can refer to the needs list provided at Home needs.

Gift a friend the NCC Christian Advocate
The North Carolina Conference Christian Advocate, the official conference newspaper, is in its 154th year of providing information, news, and resources to members of the denomination in eastern North Carolina. How about gifting a special Sunday School teacher, parent, or child with a one-year subscription at a special Christmas rate? Go to Advocate to read more.

Work of UMCOR in Haiti is highlighted on CBS
UMCOR has been featured in a CBS religion special, “Haiti: Religion’s Response to Disaster.” After a 7.0 magnitude earthquake ravaged Haiti in Jan., 2010, some of the first responders were religious relief organizations. These faith-based groups continue to work in Haiti, as the road to helping the country sustain itself remains a very long one. For airing times and more information, go to TV Special.
