Register now for Convocation & Pastors’ School
Registration is now available for the 2012 Convocation & Pastors’ School, Oct. 15-16 at Duke Divinity School. The annual two-day conference offers lectures, worship and seminars for Christian leaders of all traditions.This year’s event — Form/Reform: Cultivating Christian Leaders – promises to be both timely and practical. Participants will explore the actions that seminaries and clergy can take to inspire and prepare leaders for ministry in today’s environment. Featured speakers include Fuller Theological Seminary president Richard J. Mouw, author Andy Crouch, who will be making a return appearance to Convocation following rave reviews at the 2010 event, and theologian Sarah Coakley. The Rev. Prince Raney Rivers will serve as Convocation preacher.

BBQ/Square Dance to benefit Equine Program
Camp Chestnut Ridge will host a Square Dance and BBQ dinner from 4-7 p.m on Sunday, Sept. 16. There will be live music and a caller for square dancing, local BBQ with fixings, as well as a time to meet the horses and an auction. Cost is $20 for adults and $10 for children under 12. Nominations for Excellence Award now being accepted
The Award of Excellence in Youth Ministry will be presented to the United Methodist church/charge of the NC Conference that exhibits overall excellence in youth ministry including consideration of involvement beyond the local church, involvement in mission, balance in program, attention to discipleship and spiritual growth, attention to outreach and committed youth participation. Quality is considered over quantity. Recognition of the recipient church will be made at Pilgrimage in November. The award recipient will be determined by a Committee of the Conference Council on Youth Ministries from the applications received. Complete responses to the application questions are necessary for fair representation to the committee. Applications can be found by clicking AwardofExcel. Completed applications are to be postmarked no later than Saturday, Sept. 1. Applications should be sent to Robin Harry, 700 Waterfield Ridge Pl., Garner NC 27529.

Camp and Retreat Ministries to host Campfire Dreams
Save the date of Saturday Oct. 6, for the second annual Camp and Retreats fundraising dinner, Campfire Dreams. The dinner will feature special guest and speaker, Mark Roberts of WRAL fame. There will be dinner, Mark Roberts, fellowship with other camp lovers and a live auction to benefit Camp Chestnut Ridge, Camp Don Lee and Camp Rockfish.
