Registration has opened for the 2013 Convocation & Pastors’ School, Oct. 14-15 at Duke Divinity School. The annual two-day conference offers lectures, worship and seminars for Christian leaders of all traditions. This year’s event, “Renewing the Church,” will explore how thriving Christian communities are meeting the deep needs of the world and in the process, breathing new life into the church. Pilgrimage Registration to Begin Sept. 1
Pilgrimage has been bringing United Methodist youth (6th-12th grades) and mentors to the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville for 20 years. It’s a life-altering weekend event filled with amazing artists and thought provoking speakers, but it’s about much more that what happens on stage. It’s an experience that calls everyone to a new or stronger faith in Jesus, challenging and inspiring them to share God’s love in a world longing for love and purpose. SEJ Choir Music Weekend, Oct. 18-20
The annual Choir Music Weekend is designed for small and medium sized adult choirs. Participants will spend the weekend learning new worship anthems, attending specialized workshops, and sharing in worship together. Child Poverty Summit Scheduled for November
A Faith Summit on Child Poverty will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at First UMC in Wilson from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. It will focus on issues concerning healthcare, education and housing and help provide the tools for local churches to work together to break the cycle of child poverty which impacts so much of the conference. The schedule includes a keynote by Gene Nichols of the Poverty, Work and Opportunity Center at UNC-Chapel Hill, a panel discussion, two breakout sessions and a worship service led by Bishop Ward.
