United Methodists invited to prayer
United Methodists are invited to be in deep prayer for Christians and other religious and ethnic minorities in Iraq as they are driven from their homes and/or face starvation from lack of resources. Unity Dialogue to highlight the Plea for Unity
The Unity Dialogue will meet Sept. 16, 2-4 p.m. at the United Methodist Building in Garner. The focus of the Dialogue, for this conversation, is A Plea for Unity, a document that was written by the co-leaders of the Unity Dialogue, Laurie Hays Coffman and Paul Stallsworth. The Plea for Unity was approved by Annual Conference in June. The conversation is open to all. A few copies of the document will be available, and participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or pad with electronic access. Reading the document in advance is strongly recommended.
CPI application deadline approaching
Comprehensive Plan of Inclusiveness (CPI) grant applications are due no later than Sept. 30, at 4 p.m. (if hand-delivered) or postmarked no later than Sept.30. No faxed applications will be considered and all requests must have the appropriate signatures. Do not wait until the due date to gather signatures – plan ahead! The application may be downloaded from the Leadership Ministries page on the Conference website.
Moving presentation about immigration crisis
Cantico Nuevo Choir, under the direction of Jorge Lockward from the General Board of Global Ministries, will perform at Luz del Pueblo/White Plains UMC at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday Aug. 14 with a moving cantata on how love can respond to the immigration crisis. Admission is free but an offering will be received to benefit the humanitarian efforts at the southern US border.
