Spiritual Gifts online course available
Spiritual Gifts is a course recommended for all lay servants and a requirement for all persons desiring to become lay speakers. The course runs from Aug. 26 – Sept. 12 and class members will spend approximately one hour per day (non-weekends). Participants must be comfortable with using a computer (email, using text dialog boxes, understanding and following links) to be successful in this course. Computers must also have speakers for audio presentations. Class size limited to 15 persons. Course fee: $10.00 (payable through PayPal) plus text. The text must be ordered separately. Golden Cross Sunday is Aug. 17
Golden Cross is a ministry that reaches out in love to the laity in the NC Conference who are experiencing financial difficulty due to excessive medical expenses. Through Golden Cross, United Methodists care for members of local churches in times of emotional stress and financial need. Golden Cross has served scores of families across all districts. Pastors, please offer church members the opportunity to reach out during a special Golden Cross offering on Aug. 17 or another Sunday that works for your church. Disciple Bible Outreach special Sunday, Aug 24
Sunday, Aug. 24 is Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries (DBOM) Sunday in the North Carolina Conference. The yearly DBOM special offering supports the conference outreach into the prisons, jails and youth development centers of North Carolina. Offering envelopes have been mailed to each charge for use as bulletin inserts. A flyer is available for use as promotional material. The majority of DBOM’s yearly needs are met though this offering. Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is proud to offer in an online format all six United Methodist studies courses mandated by the Book of Discipline for ordination and ministry certification.
