Plan, Prepare, Protect: Strengthening Safety in Ministry
Pfeiffer University is hosting a three-day seminar April 17-19,at its Charlotte campus and Myers Park UMC. Plan, Prepare, Protect: Strengthening Safety in Ministry, will prepare clergy as well as church business administrators, finance leaders and trustees to inform their congregations about security priorities, mitigate security risks and evaluate safety plans. Event to help young adults discern call to ministry
Registration is open for Exploration 2013 in Denver, a three-day event for young adults age 18-26 to hear, discern and respond to God’s call to ordained ministry in The United Methodist Church. Featured speakers will include Louisiana Area Bishop Cynthia Fierro Harvey and the Rev. Jorge Acevedo, senior pastor of the multi-campus Grace Church in Southwest Florida. DBOM to offer training in each district
In 2013, Disciple Bible Outreach Ministries hopes to hold at least one district-wide prison ministry meeting for each district across the North Carolina Conference and the Western North Carolina Conference. All of these meetings will be held on a Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you would like to be trained as a DISCIPLE volunteer, please indicate it on the registration form and plan to stay from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. If you are a current DISCIPLE Bible volunteer, the afternoon will be a way for you to connect with other volunteers who are teaching DISCIPLE. You will be able to talk together about what is working well and where your concerns are. You will also be able to share your testimony on how God is working at your prison. Dates scheduled so far are April 20, Harbor District, Harbor UMC; April 27, Capital District: Millbrook UMC; May 11, Fairway District: West End UMC; July 13, Beacon District: Hertford UMC; July 20, Sound District: Riverside UMC; and July 27, Corridor District: Mebane UMC. Clergy: Don’t Miss Your CRSP Match
Beginning Jan. 1, 2014, participants in the Clergy Retirement Security Program (CRSP) pension must contribute to the United Methodist Personal Investment Plan (UMPIP) to prevent a reduction in contributions to your CRSP Defined Contribution (DC) account.
